This is a p2p I guess everyone knows it. Also its rumors said its contains very malicious spywares and such in it.
I don't use KaZaA but KaZaAlite and so I hope to get information of what KaZaA [ the one with spyware ] does and what traces it left and are there any viruses. Thanks, and bettermost, the removal of them.
I didn't try installing KaZaA myself but my friend did. I can't verify the rumors to be true or not but well I believe its true. I told my friend not to use it but he said " Nah, nth wrong in my compu, working fine all right! " I wanna convince him to get KaZaAlite for safety purposes...... oki.... are there any where that Kazaa leaves trace in the registry etc etc so I can convince my friend?
Thanks very much guys~

Aurlic,
The rumors are true. Kazaa does put spyware and more on your pc. John posted a while back about where to get 'clean' version of software
here. Here we discussed a bit about Kazaa versus Kazaalite. And JT found a really good news article about some of the things installed to your HD by Kazaa
here.

You can use a program such as Ad-Aware to detect spyware on your computer too.

Dash, I just checked that link and it's not what it was. It's now a Grokster page (another P2P program). KazaaLite can be found
HERE. However, I'm not sure if it still comes with New.net spyware. Even if it does it's easy to remove using the NewDotNet uninstaller, which is number 27 on
THIS list. This is prolly on your system from the other version of Kazaa you had previously.

KaZaALite does not install New.net and effective with version 2.1, the original KaZaA have cleaned up their act somewhat.
Newdotnet is no longer distributed with this latest version. The bundled software is in this latest release is CyDoor, SaveNow and BullGuard AV.

Just got my frd to get everything off.
But instead of Adaware(stopped updatin now) I recommended him Spybot Search and Destroy 1.1, that does the job too rite?

Aurlic, there's a new version of adaware...The old one isn't being updated, but there is a brand new one.

I see, which, spybot search and destroy or adaware, is better?

I used to say AdAware, but now Spybot. Even with the new AdAware it's obvious they haven't gotten their act together. But I do understand that AdAware can run in the background so adware doesn't have to removed manually.

I just ran SpyBot now and it found 3 possible 'problems' that the new AdAware did not find.
its a pretty good app and the explanations of the other 'problems' it found were very useful.
very nice freeware!
