Hi I'm new, and like what I see, I just found this forum yesterday, and looks just great.

I found the SAC forum Address, in another forum. I'm not sure if I'm putting this post in the right part of the forum, so please let me know if I'm not doing something right.

The Question I want to ask is, can we change the font in our post? I tried it, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong, because all I get is, what you see below, and how can I put in a tag? I don't know how to do that either, like Red Satin has with her name.

I'm not very good in computer language, or in computers, for that matter, but I am learning more then I ever though I could, slowly, but enough to enjoy my computer.

I do a lot of searching, and it's helped me a lot, but sometimes, things don't sink in.

Another question, do you have Spell Checker?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hiya LF,

I don't think you mean to say font so much as you mean an image like Red Satin has in her signature. A signature is a little blip that gets added automatically to each post you make. If you mean this....

user posted image

That's something either Red created or someone created for her. She'll have to give you more info. on what image program or graphic program they used.

If you do mean font, then that's easy too.

If you want a different font you click the dropdown that says font. You get 6 different fonts to choose from including; Arial, Impact, Geneva, Courier, Times [New Roman], and Optima. Then you type your text. When you are done, you click the 'Close All Tags' button with the big red x on it. And if you choose to use any of the other buttons, make sure you wait until you are done to click the 'close all tags' button.

Hope that helps a little.

Hi Lorraine

Be sure to click the reply box first so that the cursor is blinking before you hit the tag button or your opening tag will be after your subject instead of before it. smile.gif

Hi Lorraine smile.gif Welcome to SAF!

I made my signature with a program called Xara. Then I uploaded it to webspace and went into my control panel and put the url where it says edit signature.
Dashwood95
Xara3D is available here if you want to download a free trial version.

Hi Lorraine...welcome to SAF. smile.gif

I prefer to use the tags manually. The button options above the post page just facilitate this. Examples:

[ b] example [ /b] --> close the spaces and you get bold > example

[ i] example [ /i] makes the text italic > example

[ u] [ /u] > underline

All three can be used together - [ b][ i][ u] example [ /b][ /i][ /u] = example

Fonts, size and colour work like this:

[ font=Geneva] example [/ font] [ SIZE=7] example [ /SIZE] [ color=green] example [ /color]

Without the spaces, you get:

example example example

For signatures like Red Satin's, go to your Control Panel at the top of the page and click on "Edit Signature". If you have an image you want to use (please check the maximum dimensions allowed here), you can upload it to the SAF server, or use your own web space. Then use IMG /IMG tags with the URL of the image you want between the [img] tags. This is only allowed in certain forums here though.

If you want URLs in your signature, like mine, here's how to do it:

[ URL=http://www.suggestafix.com] http://www.suggestafix.com ] Suggestafix [ /URL] ]

Close the spaces and you get an active link:

Suggestafix

Hope this helps. You can play around with this in any of the non-tech forums. Just ask if you need any more info.

BTW...I'm the spell-checker here. biggrin.gif

Hi Everyone.

Thanks for your replies. smile.gif

Thanks Dashwood95, I'm still not sure I got this right.

I clicked on Preview, and it worked, but first I wasn't sure because all the codes(if that what you call them) were in the Reply box, so I went, and clicked on the other Box with the red X in it, and when I clicked on Preview, your name was blue with an under line, but still had a couple codes after that, and I think it was after I clicked the other Box with the red X, so all I did was delete it, and click on Preview again, and they were gone. Maybe I am getting it. smiley- yes.gif

I like the Preview, that works great.

Yes, I did want to change the font. The signature (not Tags) I wanted to learn how to put in my post also.

I do have a signature, I'm going to try that one too.

I printed this all out, so I can have a hard copy, just in case I forget, which isn't hard for me sad.gif

Thanks for the sites I'll have to check them out.

Thanks ,Jaturp , I'll remember that, when I use a tag, It's the signature I wanted this time, (I always call the signature a tag) I know now, I think. unsure.gif

Hi , Red Satin thanks, I think I check that site out too. I have to watch what I download, I have so much on this computer, it's ready to burst at the seams. I don't want to take anything off, until I get my new computer, in a couple months. If I was to mess up this computer right now, I'll just smiley- purple cry.gif

When I get my new computer, I'll keep this one for a stand by, and of course, let my hubby play games on it biggrin.gif

Thanks , HKEd got all your information on doing Tags manually, it looks complicated, but will give it a try.

If you're the spell checker, you're going to have your hands full sad.gif Most of the time I'll use Word, and it's been a big help for me. Will try out your URL's for signature also.

Thanks again, everyone, I think I'll work on the signature later. unsure.gif

Thanks Red Satin and Jaturp If I don't forget to "Close All Tags" I think I'm all set on the Font.

Now the Signature!!!! well, as you can see, I found out how to add a Signature, but I still can't figure out how to add one like you have Red Satin, I have one in a folder on the Hard Drive, but I don't know where to go from "Edit Signature" to upload it sad.gif

I think I put the Quote in ok.

HKEd, I don't have a web space, at least I don't think so unsure.gif

When I get to my Control Panel, I then I click on "Edit Signature". Now I'm lost, where do I go from here????

I'll be calling it a night soon, and will be back tomorrow night.

What do you call a Signature, when it moves, is it called a Tag???

By for now

Surfer
hi lorraine...the SAF help files has direction for posting images. look in the upper right corner of any page for Help. not all forums allow uploading. you'll want to use Show and Tell Forum for this. go ahead and practice and let us know what you need.
Dashwood95
Lorraine you can't upload from the 'edit signature' window. The image has to be uploaded already. You can go into our "Show N Tell" forum to upload it if it's not too big, or perhaps if it's ok an admin here might let you email it to them to store it for you here. If those aren't suitable solutions I think you can still get free space at http://www.imagestation.com/

Once the image is uploaded, you right click it and choose 'properties'. Then you highlight and copy the URL or link that says where it's stored on the web. You click the IMG button from the 'edit signature' window, paste the link in, and click enter. That's it.
Marcia
You can email it to Surfer and he can upload it for you, if you wish. He can put it in your profile for you after that, or we can guide you on how to do it once it's uploaded. It's your choice. smile.gif
HKEd
Lorraine has uploaded her sig in the Show 'N Tell forum:

http://www.suggestafix.com/uploads/post-46...-1046133791.gif

Lorraine, you can now use "Edit Signature" in your Control Panel and copy/paste the URL between [ img] and [ /img] tags thus:

[ img] http://www.suggestafix.com/uploads/post-46...-1046133791.gif [ /img]

(Without the spaces.)
