There are many programs that safely and completely clean out your system of accumulated junk from surfing and tracks left over from applications. While I use and recommend WindowWasher from Webroot.com, there are many other competent programs. Below is a list of cleaners. I have not tried most of them so users are going to have to add information about them in the Security discussion area or try them out.

SuperCleaner
This is a good program. cleans unneeded files, and protects your Internet privacy by removing temporary internet files, history files, and selected cookies. Cleans Internet Favorites menu, Start menu, features automatic cleaning and more. For Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP.

WindowWasher
This is the software I currently use. Automatically cleans your browser's cache, cookies, and history along with your Windows tracks, and offers downloadable free plugins for many different programs to clean remnant tracks! WindowWasher can also overwrite cleaned files up to 10 times, more than the recommended files overwrite standards of the DOD and NSA. For Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP.

CleanIt

System Security Suite is the program to remove internet tracks and junk files from your computer. It allows you to delete Cookies, clear Internet Explorer Cache, delete index.dat Files, clear Typed URLs, Windows Temp Folder and much more. You can also specify custom folder locations with file masks, which will be cleaned in addition to the selected items. In addition, the program allows you to view and optionally remove programs that launch automatically at Windows startup.
