ANTIVIRUS COMPANY TREND Micro is adding spam protection to its security offerings, licensing an antispam engine from Postini for use by its corporate customers.

The engine, which performs heuristic analyses of spam message contents and attributes, is capable of identifying spam messages even if they have been customized or have never been seen elsewhere on the Internet, according to an announcement Tuesday from Postini.

What's this?

Another little thing I noticed was that TM just started a $26 per annum fee?

"Another player in this field, Trend Micro, recently increased its annual support fee to a whopping $26 when it released of PC-cillin 2003. The increase, however, comes with one year of free technical support and a promise to include an automatic upgrade to latest version of Trend's PC-cillin when one is available. In light of Norton and McAfee's fee-based technical support, $10 annual antivirus subscription, and $30 upgrade price, Trend's $26 fee starts looking like a good deal."

That was from this article. .

With more and more ISP's getting into the act and taking over virus-scanning tasks for your email, is it still going to be worth it to pay that much per year for an AV program?
