It seems pretty likely to me that, for people who have SAF as their homepage, having an "Updates" forum right here would be a quick and easy way for everyone to find out if the programs they use require an update - without having to go somewhere else to find out.

Nothing fancy - just put all program and DB updates into one forum.

A lot of people don't like to utilize "Auto-Update" functions - for whatever reason.

Just a thought.

Thank you! (And, you're welcome!)

I like that idea as well. It enables me to be very lazy and still get important updates for my computer! biggrin.gif But how feasable is that for SAF to do?

can y'all imagine the time involved to gather and keep up with the updates for all the software and hardware 3000+ users might use as well as requests for software/hardware not listed. i just don't see it as a winning situation overall.

I agree. Even if everyone posted to an updates forum, the quantity of possible updates out there would make it enormous! Here's some links to other sites that cover updates quite well.....

Walbeehm's Win98 and Win95 updates.

Operating system updates.

Microsoft critical updates.

Overall updates. This site appears to be in Dutch, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find what you're after. If you need a translation, try InterTran.

I don't really think you guys are seeing this the way it would be.

For a look at a compartmentalized updates forum, go here: ComputerCops website

For a look at a 'freeform' updates forum, go here: Wilders or here .

Seems to work pretty well in those places without a whole lot of work involved on the mods parts.
