Well, the "US Military Web Servers" like to visit my site according to my server logs. I cannot imagine they've found anything interesting there though.

Senate Passes Homeland Security Bill

Yahoo article

How sad. The only ones with balls enough to vote against this legislation were Democrats - and even they weren't concerned with the erosion of liberty and privacy which will ensue, they were just concerned with the 'union' and 'exemptions' issues (not saying those weren't important issues, just not the most 'freedom critical').

Has anyone noticed that there is still one more hurdle for this thing to pass? The 'roll-call' vote in the House of Representatives on Friday?

Clicking this link: http://www.house.gov/writerep/ will take you directly to a page where all you have to do is put in your zip code to get in touch with your Representative and ask him/her to make a final stand on this instead of rubber-stamping it.

I already used it tonight.

Make it simple : "VOTE NO on the Homeland Security bill! They're stripping our rights and turning us into a police state!"

There was something posted here concerning this as well. It is being aggressively pursued by several privacy groups at this time. Unfortunately the bill has been used to introduce several issues that probably will present privacy problems later on or entries that have nothing to do with the security of the nation or Internet users. However, keep in mind the Security News forum is only to inform users of current security issues or those which may affect them later. While I realize this is a sensitive topic and upsets me just as much as everyone else, please do not allow the discussion to lead to a politically oriented one.
