I remember a while back having something on a floppy that could be run and check a system for viruses. I can't find it and it would prolly be outdated anyway. Is there anything out there that could be d/l'd to a floppy or similar that could do a quick check of a system? Maybe it was from Panda, but I went to their site and didn't see anything like that.

It was F-Prot and I'm not certain if that is even available in that form anymore...that was a few years ago I used to see it.

I haven't heard of any that small. I'd suspect that anything that would fit on a floppy would be very specific & would leave a lot of holes that a virus could slip through. Perhaps Interceptor could comment, but if you're looking for a quick "boot record" scanner, then the old AV programs that came with DOS might work because the organization of the boot record is so specific that it should be relatively easy to see unwanted changes to it.

Thanks Surfer Dewd! They also have a free av prog on that page as well. The machine in question doesn't have internet access at the moment and they want to check and see if it has a virus. I guess they could even d/l the free prog, burn it to a cd from a working machine, and then install it on the suspect machine. Thanks again.
