Hello everyone.

I did a silly thing and joined the circus of people playing FarmTown on Facebook. This after saying I would never join a social network. banghead.gif Ever since I've had browser crashes and other issues. I won't quit the game because it's so much fun and so addictive.

Somewhere along the line it was recommended that I download RegCure and let it scan and fix errors on my computer. I allowed it to start downloading but then I cancelled it thinking I'd better check here first. Before I cancelled it did find Vundo and said it got rid of it.

How can it do that if the download never finished? confused.gif

Anyway, now it's in my startups and telling me I have some 953 errors. hairup.gif Do I let it do it's scan and fix these errors or should I post a hijack this here or what?

Is this a safe program? It sounds like it wants to mess with my registry which may be a good or bad thing. I don't know.

I'm about ready to have the whole computer reformatted just to clean it up.

I can still get online (obviously) and do what I want on the internet but getting lots of crashes on FarmTown (Yes I know it's probably one of the worst places to visit on the internet but it's like asking me to give up chocolate if I have to quit because it's bad for me) and I'm unsure of what's on my computer now. beatsme.gif

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Annie.... My stand on all automatic registry scanners (which is what Regcure is) has not changed for at least 10 years. I have never seen one yet that didn't eventually cause problems, many very severe. Most of what Regcure finds are empty register module where the original load has been deleted. As such they are totally harmless. Don't let any program automatically scan and make changes to your register-you are asking for trouble. It will work perfectly 10 times and the 11th time Windows won't boot. I have seen it over and over. If your computer is running perfectly, leave it alone. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a good adage. By the way, Vundo is a complicated malware nasty, and there is no way in Halifax that I will believe that this program nailed it in one pass. Sometimes innocent entries can trigger false positives in these auto scanners, that is what makes them dangerous to use.

My suggestion is to run a Hijack this scan and post it here in the Malware forum, the guys are more than happy to look it over.

Thanks Ranchand. I'm going to get rid of that program cause I've had nothing but problems ever since it half downloaded. Will work on the Hijack this log and post it too.
Thanks for the advice. Have been running Malwarebyte Antimalwre program and shows up all clear when it scans so I hope it's all OK. Will get onto Hijack this though cause I'm having issues with browsers and getting worse now.

Will let you know how it goes. smile.gif

agree 100% with ranchhand.

btw i'm a farm town farmer. i don't remember your system specs but my fiance had the same problem with farm town and more memory fixed it. she had 256 meg then went to 2 gig. facebook says system requirements are at least 2 gig.
Outback Annie
Thanks Surfer. FarmTown is a circus isn't it. IPB Image but I love it. I have 2 gigs ram in my system so I should be good.

Have uninstalled RegCure and already the computer is running much MUCH better.

Will get onto doing a HijackT log soon. Have some chores to do first (not farming IPB Image )

I'm having a thought here (don't laugh) .

I do remembe seeing the word Vundo somewhere in a scan report but I can't remember if it was Malwarebytes which said it got it or th Regcure.

Would Malwarebytes fix/delete/quarantine (or whatever they do) get rid of this Vundo thing?

I run scans daily with Malwarebytes and they are coming up clean now.

I did a search on Vundo and it came up negative on the search like there is nothing there on my computer.

Here is my HJT Log.

I hope I did it right. wacko.gif

Please take a look and let me know what if anything I should do and/or if there are any nasties I should get rid of.

Thank you.

Hi Annie...the log looks OK, but I'd like you to run another program that shows more than HijackThis.

Download RSIT to the desktop and run it there. Post the main log it generates (Log.txt).
Outback Annie
Thank you so much for checking that for me. I deleted the log as per my husband's request but I will run the next test. thank you for posting a link to it. Will run RSIT and post results here.

That's such a relief to me that you didn't find anything blatantly obvious smile.gif
Outback Annie
Here is the log generated from the RSIT link.

Log deleted. Will post correct log in a bit.

HKEd
That's Info.txt. I need to see the main log (Log.txt). You can just run RSIT again if you've already deleted the logs.
Outback Annie
Hopefully this is the correct one this time

Log deleted at husband's request.

Thank you for checking. smile.gif thumb up.gif
