Sorry, I read the rules about posting new thread, but i'm using my laptop since my desktop computer has been infected with Total secure fake anti virus and I cannot open any programs and such, I also cannot perform system restore and safe mode as safe mode will crash and restart again. when i fully boot the computer, my wallpaper says something about WARNING yada yada yada and buy this software, then the anti virus total secure pops up and i cant delete it or end it, also CTRL + ALT + DEL doesnt work either. I need help on this. thank you in advance.

Hi rikuhj...not being able to run fix tools or boot to safe mode is a major problem. I've seen what this bugger does. It took me over three hours to fix a friend's computer. If it's a similar variant, I don't think it can be fixed remotely, i.e. via this forum.

Get hold of a clean USB drive and see if this works:

On a clean computer, click here to download mbam-setup.exe. In the Download box, rename mbam-setup.exe to abc123.com, then download the file to the USB drive. Click on abc123.com, then install MBAM on the USB drive. Run the program and check for updates. Locate mbam.exe on the drive and rename it to 123abc.com, then transfer the USB drive over to the infected computer. Click on 123abc.com and see if it will run. If it doesn't, post back and we'll try something else.

ok, i manage to get the other infected computer to work somehow, when the computer starts to boot, i press CTRL + ALT + DEL after the welcome screen and killed the process called 1123232.exe or something (I was just guessing, cause it was a number on the taskbar). then it stopped bu there is still virus in it, so i did clean it with Malwarebytes' anti malware and cleaned some terrible virus, although there was a log at the end, i wasnt able to save cause it restarted right away after cleaning the virus. i'll post HJT and see if my computer is still clean, can?

im doing a MBAM scan right now, then i just wanna ask something. my AVG detects a virus that came from Deckard, is it malicious?
HKEd
No...Deckard is OK.

I think you used Deckard's System Scanner last year when your computer was last infected. rolleyes.gif
rikuhj
yeah i still remember you helping me, thank you alot for that. now my AVG warning me about having a trojan on my computer, i just dont get it, either they are clean or something, or just a false alarm.
HKEd
There are usually many files that need to be deleted with an infection like this. Even MBAM may not get them all. We'll use a different tool when the time comes.

Disable AVG by right-clicking on the icon on the taskbar and disabling resident protection or whatever it's called. What AVG may be finding doesn't matter. We need MBAM to clean this, not AVG.

I have to go out for the evening. I'll check back later. Keep that computer disconnected from the internet.

ah, thanks a lot. here's the log attached.
HKEd
None of the files are showing. The infection is well hidden.

Download GMER to C:. It will arrive as a randomly-named file. When you run it, it performs an initial scan. If anything is found, click on the Copy, then Save buttons and post the log. If nothing is found in the initial scan, click on the Scan button. Click Copy and Save at the end of the scan and post the log here (as an attachment).
HKEd
One other thing - can you locate and zip this file:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\msexcr.ini

Click on my user name for my email address and send it to me please.
rikuhj
Here is the log, the other thing you requested is coming right up.
HKEd
Got it, thanks. It's a zero-byte file, so no info there.

All those Cns* files that keep coming back are from Yahoo Assistant.

Uninstall Spybot Search & Destroy and reboot.

Run HijackThis and fix these lines:

Post a fresh HijackThis log.
HKEd
Did you miss this one?:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [helper.dll] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\3721\helper.dll,Rundll32

Fix it again and check to see if it comes back.

I've attached a zipped file. Unzip it to the desktop and run CnsLook.bat there. Post the log that opens.

Run a full scan with GMER and post the log as well.
rikuhj
here are the post of the logs you wanted and i attached it. the file you gave me shows no log, as i waited long and nothing happened.
HKEd
I have made a change to CnsLook.bat and attached it. Don't run it until after you run ComboFix (below). CnsLook may take a few minutes to search, so let it run.

Go here and follow the directions for using Combofix. During the process, it will ask to install the Recovery Console. Install that if possible, but it's not a big deal if you can't.

Post the Combofix and CnsLook logs.
HKEd
Forgot to attach. rolleyes.gif
rikuhj
i ran combofixer but it wont do anything, sorry i cant read chinese. i think mom set it up to that language, but i cannot tell what combofix is saying as it is in chinese.
HKEd
Delete that copy of ComboFix and download another copy.

Is there any problem with running it in English? confused.gif

Did CnsLook produce a log?
rikuhj
yeah, it says something in chinese, but i waited for over 5 hours to produce something, but still doesnt have. ill try cnslook now and post a log.

EDIT: here is the cnslook log.

Locate and delete these folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery

C:\Deckard\System Scanner\backup

Download ATF-Cleaner to the desktop and run it there. Use it to delete all temp and temp internet files.

Run HijackThis and fix this line:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [helper.dll] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\3721\helper.dll,Rundll32

Run Avenger and use this code:

HJT log is in attachment. enlighten me, but what is cns?
HKEd
It's 3721 Internet Assistant, aka Yahoo! Assistant. In the earlier HijackThis logs, the CNS files kept coming back. I wouldn't want it on my system.

Something is prevemting this line from being deleted:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [helper.dll] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\3721\helper.dll,Rundll32

Can you disable Spy Sweeper and try fixing it again in HijackThis.

How is the computer now?
rikuhj
i dont know why it kept coming back, but im sure my spy sweeper is disabled, would you still want me to do HJT? the computer is pretty much ok, it's just the cns im worried about.
HKEd
OK...it's gone now. I'd say the computer is clean now.

Can you run MBAM again and post the log.
rikuhj
here it is
