I went for a Europtrip with my cousin. Maybe doesn't sound like much... But my cousin is paralysed from his waist down following an accident with a motorcycle. So he is using a wheelchair.
The trip took us from Sweden, down through Germany. We stayed two nights at a place called "The Tent" in Munich. http://www.the-tent.com Very nice place with nice people, and good food, and free WiFi! ;-)
From there we went to Salzburg in Austria. A really nice place with beautiful buildings... The hostel didn't have an elevator so... we had to go up two stairs with the wheelchair... We met two nice Italian guys that invited us to visit them if we came to Italy.
From Salzburg we went to Vienna where we stayed for two nights at a budget hotel in the middle of town. Really nice place, but three steps up to the elevator. We walked for miles in Vienna... one day almost 20 miles. (I walked my cousin, (rolled) ;-)
From Vienna we drove down to Venice, a nice ride through the Alps. We stayed at a four-star hotel outside Venice in a place called Mestre. The personal didn't think much about people that don't speak Italian, but otherwise the place was really nice. The day we came to Mestre we caught a bus to Venice. What we didn't expect was that they had hired a former F1 champion to drive the bus. We felt like we would have needed a kidney belt and an integral helmet. The bus ride was a little rough to say the least.
Once in Venice my cousin found out that Venice has a lot of bridges (duh!) with stairs on them (duh!). But we managed to get over a couple of the bridges and got a nice Italian pizza for dinner.
A couple of days later we met up with our Italian friends and were invited for lunch and dinner, and I got to meet Vincenzo, who has his own vineyard and makes really good wine.
Then we decided to go back home and drove for almost 28 hours straight.
