Hi panada82, welcome to SAF

Please go to your control panel, add-remove programs and uninstall Seeken from there if listed. It's crapware.

If not listed, press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

seekeen151.exe
seekeen.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against of the following:

O23 - Service: SeekeenSrch Service - Unknown owner - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SeekeenSrch\seekeen151.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

- Download and run CrapCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/
Note: in CCleaner: go to <options/advanced> Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours".

- Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebyte'...ware_d5756.html to the desktop.

- Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
- When installation has finished, make sure you leave both these checked:
- Update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
- Then click Finish.

- MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
- On the Scanner tab:
- Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected.
- Then click on the Scan button.
- The next screen will ask you to select the drives to scan. Leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.

- The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.

When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
- Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
- Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)

The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log and exit MBAM.

NB - If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process and, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the mbam report along with a fresh HJT log.

Thanks for the help. Turns out, all the problem was is that my cookies were disabled in my browser (I use Firefox).

But now I'm getting this:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Buffer overrun detected!

Program C:\\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. This program cannot continue normal execution and must now be terminated.

Is this legit?

2 days later ?

Your system is still infected, but it's up to you to carry out my instructions or not. Without the reports I asked for, I'm unable to give any advice. beatsme.gif

I can't imagine what you did these past two days, but You may reinstall FF and the MS Visual runtime library to workaround this problem, or perform a disk check to see if there are no lost clusters or cross-references on it.

Anyway, without cleaning, this system will remain unstable forever.

I did install all the programs... HJT, CC & the Malaware was already on there, but I ran a scan and did find one thing and have it removed. And I did the analyze thing and it just took me to the HJT website. I followed your directions... just did it all before you told me to... I"m psychic like that! J/K! But anyway, so can I uninstall this Microsoft C++ thing or what do I do now? What reports do you need? I copy & pasted everything into a word document so I can get to it if I need to. Please help! Thank you so much!!!
Ironbender
I don't need any previous reports, I need the updated mbam report and a fresh HJT log, as per the instructions on my previous post (#2 above).
