Okay, I have a NETGEAR Wireless Router in my living room, the internet works perfectly when I have an ethernet cable connecting me directly to the router, but when I go to my room and try to connect wirelessly, I suffer problems.

I still have a connection, it sometimes works okay, sometimes is REALLY slow like it is now, and sometimes just doesn't connect for about 2 hours then works again, its really ###### me off.

My room is only a few meters away, and it should work! I have an xbox 360 that connects from my room perfectly with its wireless adapter, and my phone even connects perfectly to my router too, and is fast!

So why is my laptop and all the other laptops wireless connection to this blimming router SO SLOW? (slow most of the time, doesn't work the rest of the time)

Please ask your questions about anything I really need this solved!

looks to me to be a case of the lappies not having enough power to negotiate through the obstacles. change channels on the router. is it a wireless g, wireless g range+, or wireless n connection?

Like Surfer said, unless you have your configurations off on the laps, make sure you are running at least the 2.4GHz router or you won't have the power to go through walls, especially if you have brick & steel structure. Once I had to reposition my router a bit higher in the room then everybody in the whole house, including the basement could access very well. Suddenly my son could get internet access on the PS3 in the family room at the other end of the house, and even a weak signal for a lap on the patio outside.

What is your signal strength on the laptops? Do they work right near the router?
