OH it was nice... movie... I almost thought it was Conan 3 by the way it started.
However from what I've read the Rock has been scrubbed from playing Conan's son in the upcoming movie.

Most recent movie i've seen is Lord Of The Rings. I thought it excellent but then I'm a big JRR fan.
Last night The Pelican Brief was on TBS and that's the first time i saw that one.
I need to get out more.

I also loved the LOTR, but again - I'm a big fan. Have read the book 4 times

Also seen these other films recently;
Memento (A must, if you haven't seen it ! Guy Pearce is ace in it)
Blade 2 - great vampire action movie
Resident Evil - Explains the games well .. not bad film
Star Wars Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones (I was disappointed)
Monsters Inc - very nice

I like films !

Blade II: End battle was absolutely brutal! The characters also displayed more of their superhuman powers throughout than they did in the original Blade. Massive violence! This is worth adding to the DVD collection.
Lord Of The Rings: Being an avid Tolkien fanatic and having read almost all of his books, I think this was a great film. In fact, it left off where the book did...kind of a letdown to non-book readers, but the rest of us know what happens next. I think it'll end up blowing the Star Wars trilogy away after the debut of the last episode.
Resident Evil: This was a pretty good flick that stuck to the oringinal console game's storyline. The zombies weren't cheesy and the graphics were well done. My favorite part? When the laser in the tunnel turned into a grid and cut the group leader into bite sized chunks.
I don't know why anyone was disappointed by the latest Star Wars release. I don't look at a movie and judge whether it abides by the history of the previous films. I judge it on a per movie basis. Who cares about the trilogy?? Yes, it had a cheesy love story and Anakin was played by a puke, but the battle scenes made up for them. Ol' Yoda kicked some serious butt proving why he was the best and there was more than enough violence to keep anyone happy. Overall, the CGI was great and the action kept coming, especially toward the end.
....."I slaughtered them like animals. I didn't just kill their men. I killed their women and children. I killed them all." -Anakin Skywalker

About a Boy: Hugh Grant etc.. Really good film I thought, made me laugh a lot.
Me, Myself & Irene: Just rewatched that, still funny. Carrey is just great.
Where Eagles Dare: Just watched that too. Still a great film. The SS guy is soooo SS. And the spy stuff in the main hall is really well thought out.

I just saw Harry Potter on DVD. I had heard so much about how excellent a movie it was with special effects and all, but I didn't think it lived up to what everyone one saying. Worth seeing, but maybe not one I would want to own.

Harry Potter was made for the BIG SCREEN.
I must have been forced to watch it 6 times since I bought it the day it came out. Watch it one or 3 more times and see what you think then.

OK, one of those movies that you watch quite a few times before it makes a lasting impression?
As far as the large screen, I saw Independence Day on the big screen and thought it very impressive. Then saw it on DVD and saw how much it lost viewing it on TV. I can see if Harry Potter was made for the large screen how it might be disappointing watching it any other way.

I saw Star Wars II other day with my bro. he enjoyed it loads, i thought it wasnt that bad, better than Episode I, but there were bits of the scipt and stuff which made me actually cringe. (like the bit when anakin pedges his never ending love for the senator woman)
and of course, when the film got boring, Natalie Portman provided sufficent to look at to keep me interested

I saw 'They Were Soldiers' with Mel Gibson the other night. They didn't hold back on the blood and guts in that movie, did they? Then we watched 'BlackHawk down'.
I'm gonna get 'The Ring' and 'Sum Of All Fears' when they come out on DVD. I watched an old one but still a good one last night, 'The Professional'-the uncut version. I love the 1st part when Gary Oldman blows the drug dealer and his family away. This version has an extended scene of that. Gotta admit..he plays a good bad guy.
For 'Lord of the Ring' fans----a special anniversary issue DVD is due out with more scenes and info than the previously released version.

Yeah, They Were Soldiers was definitely an excellent flick. If you haven't already done so, you might wanna think about getting Saving Private Ryan on DVD if you have (and I'm sure you do) a home theatre system, as the surround sound is incredible.

Best movie I've seen in six months. It's got everything..humor, excellent photography, good plot,
moves right along..not boring, different outlook, I could go on.... and it was a relatively low budget flick too!

Just saw "The Ring" again last night, but this time it was the special extended DVD edition--2 of the 4 CD set are appendices. I rarely watch TV or movies, but I enjoyed this one--even better than when I saw it a year ago in the theater.

"X-Men2" is out.....that was pretty good. I'm waiting for what else but the best computer geek movie next to "Hackers"....."Matrix Reloaded".
Finally watched "The Bourne Identity" the other night. I'm not a fan of the "dynamic duo" (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) but the movie was good. I never thought a British Cooper Mini could drive like that......

I bought Tears of the Sun with Bruce Willis. It wasn't a bad movie and was from the makers of "Blackhawk Down". Then I watched Star Trek "Nemesis". It was ok.....I think they could've explained things a little more clearly and improved the plotline, but being a ST fan I liked it enough.

EQUILIBRIUM

!!!!
SEE IT NOW!!
OK I think this movie deserves it's own thread! The box they make some comparison with the matrix and the fighting is comparable yet doesn't seem like a cheap rip off clone and keeps everything within the realm of possibility for the story line (ie NOT "the one") . Then it's an anti eutopia which I have not seen in a long long time! This means you get your action, you get your drama, you get that seldom used really mushy muscle used as you are hit by twist after twist
basically I can't say very much about the movie as it may give it away but see it .... what are you still doing here I meant now

I saw the 2nd Tomb Raider movie the other day and although I LOVED the first movie and bought it for my collection I have to say that apart from the last section of the movie I thought it to be too much like a female James Bond type movie. I do enjoy James Bond movies but that's not what I wanted from this movie. I was hoping for more "unnatural" stuff and treasure hunting and what I got was waaaay too much action and not enough story line. The action / story balance was just non existant. It was too much hollywood glitz. Too over the top with action fighting scenes and James Bond gadgets and not enough mystery and treasure hunting. The first one made her seem like more of a female version of Indiana Jones but the second made her into a female James Bond. I prefer her as the first and preferred the first Tomb Raider over the second one. Just when it was getting good it was over. Just my opinion.

Within the past few days we saw Seabiscuit and Open Range. I was disappointed in Seabiscuit and I think it is because I saw so many reviews like GoonMan's above. It was a GOOD movie, I was just expecting more because of all the GREAT things I have read.
Really liked Open Range better. Of course if Robert Duval is in it then it is good as far as I am concerned.
Overall, I liked both, which means a pretty good summer as I don't remember seeing two that good so close together in a long time.

I finally watched "The Hulk" tonight. I thought it was going to be cheesy, but they did a really good job with the cgi. Actually, it was pretty funny.
I bought "X2: XMen United tonight". Now that they finished introducing the characters in the first one, they should be able to forge ahead with less of a story line and more action. Gonna watch it tomorrow.
