First off, sorry if this is in the wrong category.
I am a XP SP3 user.

I will be losing my current e-mail address.

I will need to go to each web site (including this one) and make changes. And notify all my friends & family.

Is there any one (or two) ways to make the transition easy (easier) ?

nothing i'm aware of. i'm afraid it's all manual labor.

Why not change to Gmail or similar so that when/if you change ISP again you don't have to go through that again?

I use G-mail as well.

By all means not a jab at G-mail, but I began using it years ago as my secondary e-mail account- more for non family & friends. Plus my current blocks g-mail, so I can not view my mail during the day.

first of all you have to tell the friends manually.

if you have any account than you can send the mail to all the friends and notify them about your new mail.

you can send mails to all the friends simultaneously and inform it.

'twas just a thought. My current employer also blocks gmail etc.

if you have the information about the e mail account.

than your account will be revert back otherwise it is not possible to revert the e mail.

create a new account and send the mails to all the friends for the new account simultaneously.

so all that all friends are aware about your new e mail account.

When I first got onto the internet over 13 years ago, I signed up for a free Bigfoot for Life account. They use forwarding (as well as webmail), so I've never had to change over the years.... just update the forwarding address to my ISP account.

Outlook Express may well need to be reconfigured to use your new ISP instead of your old, if your email address is one provided by your ISP.

Typically, when you change ISPs, you can still send and receive emails from the old account using their Web interface, but you lose the ability to do it over a mail client such as Outlook or Outlook Express. But in other cases, closing the ISP account may also result in the email account being closed. You'll need to check this with your old ISP.

As others have said, the real answer is to get an email address that is not bound to your ISP. That way, you won't have to tell everyone that your email address has changed because you change your ISP. Only use the ISP-based one for communications with your ISP, if necessary.

You could send a mass email using OE from your new account once it is set up to all your contacts saying "Please update your address book - the old email address does not work any more" etc. and then check the old one online for a few months (assuming closing the ISP account does not automatically close the email account too).
