Basically there is nothing wrong with the connection but my laptop just turns its wi'fi off for no apparent reason. And i can't figure out how to turn it back on again as there is no switch on my laptop and i don't know of a key combination that might work. The only thing that gets it back on is restarting the laptop. Is there anything i can do to fix it? Any help would be really really appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

Thank you

that kind of interruption can be caused from a cordless phone or other source of radio frequency interference (rfi) like a nearby wireless network. if this is the case try removing cordless phones from the premises or changing router broadcast/recieve channels. also can be caused by a failing wireless adapter.

But it isn't an interruption of the wireless just the laptop turning off the wifi function. And it does it in both my houses and in student halls so i don't think the wireless netwirk is the problem.

what is a pc card wireless adapter and can i just go and buy one or do i need a specific one?

thanks for the help

a pc card wireless adapter plugs into a socket on your laptop and will be used in place of the onboard wireless adapter. it'll need to be the same type as your onboard wireless adapter.

tell me the make and model number of your laptop and i can make a suggestion.
