I had my back turned for a minute. When did the Win95 forum get merged into a catch-all Win9x forum?

I've still got an old Win98 box, and looking around the Internet shows that questions pertaining to these older operating systems do still crop up from time to time.

However, very few people are still using any of these older unsupported Windows versions now, so it makes sense to merge them to free up space for the newer ones, such as Vista and the forthcoming Windows 7 (already in Beta).

Otherwise you end up with a long list of forums, many of which see very little activity.

Well, I'll certainly miss the specific Win95 forum. I have no interest in 98, SE, or ME, and I have no desire to cull through topics that don't apply to 95. There's still one Win95-specific forum left (that I know of), so I'll visit there every day. (You'll notice I detected your "merge" in one day because I was visiting here every day.)

Thanks to SAF for the good tips over the years.

jerry you are a sentimentalist after my own heart, but the tone of your post sounds like you won't come back because of it. I hope that's not the case.

And what do you love so much about 95? Personally, I didn't get much use of it having had no PC at that time of my own and only having access to whatever OS someone else had. I skipped 98 almost entirely because my mom always had the newest and greatest and was a huge fan of 2k. So what about 95 grabs you even these 14 years later?

Thinking back.... I really miss all the rebooting I had to do with 95. 98 was much better. ME really sucked, kinda like Vista. 2K is still one of the best OSes MS ever had. I use XP Pro now, and it does a fine job, once all the unnecessary services are turned off and some other refinements were made to it. It's quite stable now.....

95/98/ME are dead...and good riddance. I have enough chewing at my brain with XP and Vista. Thankfully, Vista is going to commit suicide soon--the lousy chunk of crap it is. I hope they refine 7 like they did XP, but I don't think they will. There will be some enhancements, but I don't think Win7 is going to be any more popular than it's design base (Vista). We'll see. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised *cough, cough*.

Don't hold your breath Johnboy.

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate Vista? This laptop I got on closeout a few months back when my beloved PC died has Vista Home. I hate it.
