Yea, and that stuff is heading my way. To think, I was in Florida a couple weeks ago. Should have stayed there with my aunt for a few months, except I wouldn't have my Genie pooch then. She's worth enduring those long walks in the cold. smile.gif

Almost hate to tell you it was in the low-mid 80's yesterday.

But, last night brought the bad weather in. Mid 20's right now and windy.

What a difference a day makes.............

Worse here! 5 inches is what we got so far! I had to drive home 15mph and come home to shovel my driveway.
Surfer
hey dash i heard it's gonna get worse before it gets better!!
jimholly
Yep, just ask all those folks up east without electric. OOPS!! Forgot - no electric, no computers. sad.gif
ranchhand
4 1/2 hours to get home. Left work at 4PM, walked in the door at 8:20. Disgusted, Disgusted, Disgusted. These Chicago drivers are total morons. Only 5" of snow. Five Inches. You would have thought we were in Anchorage, Alaska in a blizzard gale with three feet of fluff. Lots of cars stalled because the owners are too freaking cheap to keep them maintained properly so they quit in cold weather in the middle of the street. Idiots that see the traffic light turned yellow, yet drive into the middle of the intersection and get stopped from backup in front of them. Now the light changes and they sit there like a horse's rear end holding up 1/2 mile of traffic that should be moving but isn't now because of them. Jerks that drive too close to the car in front of them, that car stops and they rear end the guy because they have air where brains are supposed to be. Aggh-h-h-h-h-h.

Hey Ranchhand, you shoulda seen the mess here in mo/ks area, only

We've already had a couple of -15 days here. The snow hasn't been so much an issue as it has south of us from 5 to 200 miles. They've already had a total of 8+ feet in some places in the snowbelts. The early snow and cold doesn't bode very well for us come Jan-Feb. Last year we had tons of snow but didn't get the typical below zero temps. I'm not so sure about this year. We also narrowly averted our catastrophic third historic ice storm as it slid to the south part of NY, Mass, New Hampshire and Vermont.

So much for global warming! laugh.gif

"Record high temperature set at Jacksonville...

a record high temperature of 81 degrees was set at Jacksonville yesterday.
This ties the old record of 81 set in 1990."

Feels like Christmas
busterb
This ain't nice! After all the record highs.
Surfer
y'all have nuthin to cry about busterb. y'alls low temps beat our high temps.
Dashwood95
You said it Wes. Our car said it was -3 this afternoon. I think that was being kind. You walk outside round here you feel like your face freezes solid instantly.
HKEd
The cold weather warning is in force today. I kid you not, it comes into force when the temperature goes below 12C/55F. This morning it hit 11C, so there are messages on TV and in the newspapers to wrap up warm. Hongkongers wouldn't last a minute in the mid-West USA. eek2.gif

All I know is we've had below zero temps and my shop has snowbanks up to my chin:

Wow, your shop looks like a gingerbread house! My mouth started watering! laugh.gif
Surfer
looks cool but all that snow has to be the pits.
Dashwood95
If only I had the ability to show you a pic of what snow we have. We got you beat I think John.
Surfer
we're having a brief respite, atm 36º F. but look out tonight.

Snow. Snow accumulation around 2 inches. Lows around 10. North winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent. Wind chill readings 3 below to 7 above zero.

in the flatlands of kansas 2" looks like a lot more than 2". maybe because it drifts most of the time.
Interceptor
They've already had 8 feet an hour south of us. We're on the lake shore so we don't get the snow they do only 15 minutes south...we cause it. Still, we've had plenty early in the season.
Surfer
i can't even imagine 8'. worst i saw was in idaho was 4' back in the day. that was in the valley, mountains were like 14' but needless to say nobody but the foolhardy went to the mountains that winter
busterb
The report I posted was all government propaganda. It got down to 24, but no sleet or rain. Tonights low is suppose to be 57. But being old I was cold all day, at around 44º
jimholly
Here's a gingerbread house (the real thing) that my 4-year old nephew made a couple days ago, with a little help from his mom, of course....

Dashwood95
I really don't know how many we officially have received. Some has melted, but I can tell you that the snow plower at work is going to be in deep shite when Dunkin Donuts makes him (or the landlord I suppose) pay for the fence they destroyed by packing the snow too tightly on it. It's busted clear through in one section and leaning on a 30 degree angle in 4 other sections.

I also know I stepped in a foot and a half of new snow on my driveway when I got home tonight, and that's just the new stuff.
ranchhand
I'm with you, Dashie; a plower dented the fender of a workmate of mine at night in her apartment complex parking lot-of course, how do you prove it? The idiots from the Village where I live rammed 2000 lbs of snow up and over my garbage can stand just after I shoveled it clear, breaking the stand and burying the cans. Then that night the temp dropped and it all froze solid. I got on the phone to the Village Manager who sent the plow back and cleared it, but the following summer I spent three hours repairing the stand because they broke it. Come on, how much brains does it take to drive a snow plow?
Dashwood95
That stinks ranchhand buddy. I'm glad they atleast (and I do mean least) came back to clear it for you.
chrisjea
For those curious about Christmas in the South (BTW I mowed yesterday)

Actually, with global warming winters will become more severe and last longer in the north, opposite of what some may believe. With warmer temps there is more moisture available for storms and wind patterns are reinforced. Global warming also means hurricanes and tornadoes will also increase in frequency and intensity.
