I’m not an expert on games but I think that you have a compatibility issue; you can try and find a newer version that is compatible with Vista, or you can install XP on your current machine, or another one, and play that game.

Thanks Dino,
I think that I'll find a newer version of this gamme that is compatible with Vista and while I'm at it, I'll look for a newer version of Monopoly that is compatible with Vista also because if I recall correctly, I bought Monopoly around the time that I bought this game. I may be mistaken--I ran it on the Gateway computer running XP Pro but the graphics looked funny in the center of the board. They were distorted. The outside of the board was not however, so I'll just look for two games. Thanks.

first your old game/s was not designed to VISTA (no vista that time)
secondly you may try compatibility facility of vista to run your games but not a 100% sure about that.

Monopoly for Vista (free).
Mahjongg Empire is listed only for Windows 95/98/Me/XP/2000, and there doesn't appear to be any upgraded version of it for Vista.
You'll find several versions of Vista compatible MahJongg, some free,
HERE.
