Hello Angoid, HKEd, Interceptor, Ironbender hello.gif happy.gif

I would be interested to know what you think of Comodo Internet Security or know what the general view of it is.
Have you had any experience with systems that have used it for security? if so what was the outcome?

I was useing ESET Smart Security but my license expired. So the time had come for a fresh look at my options.
On a side note the off putting thing about eset's software I never liked is if anything it misses infects the system eset seems easy to kill off without a peep from it and all protection is down.
Given though if an infection makes it that far the cat and mouse game is already over so to speak. laugh.gif

I'm now using Comodo firewall with the Defense+ (HIPS) on, for antivirus I have Avira AntiVir Premium.
So far I'm happy with this combo of these two combined for the av and firewall side. I also have a router with SPI firewall so software one is mainly for control of what can access the net.
The other measures I have in place for passive defense spywareblaster, spybot S&D, KeyScrambler, firefox + noscript etc.
O/S Vista 32bit & SP1 and recent updates same with sotware like java, flash etc.
Then most importantly using my noggin to keep out of trouble cowboy.gif

I feel this should provide me with adequate protection for what lurks about the web these days; though as I haven't kept up with the current infections like I once did thought it was worth seeing what you guys thought.

Hi Zenith...I missed this. Might have been better to post it in the Security forum. I hardly ever look in this forum. rolleyes.gif

I use Comodo AV and like it a lot. I don't use a software firewall so no comment on that except that Comodo has a very good reputation.

You certainly seem to be well protected! thumb up.gif

Hi Zenith hello.gif

hello.gif HKEd & Ironbender

Since my post I have tried out on another system Comodo's av + firewall instead of firewall and a separate AV, I didn't mind it at all seems to work just fine so it's staying on that computer.

While not a test of how well it works it was picking up malware fixes on my usb, so at least I know it doesn't bring the system to a crawl when it picks something up.
The info I could find about comodo's av seemed ok but as I have never used the av I wasn't sure what to think of it. The firewall I know has good rep and in use I'm also happy with it.
It's good to know the fact you use the the AV HKEd as I know you enough to know you wouldn't use it if it wasn't a decent product.

Next time I will post a question like this in the security forum smile.gif

I have been using Comodo firewall for years and trust it completely. It will drive you nuts in the beginning with prompts, but once trained settles down. Comodo has recently added an AV to the firewall; if you are already running Avira it is not wise to have two AVs running at the same time. Down the road you can get conflicts and wierd crashes. Comodo AV is not nearly the quality of Avira (IMHO) and my suggestion is to turn it off as long as you are running Avira anyway. However the firewall is superb.

Hi all,

Have been watching this post with some interest of recent days...

Have been a user of Comodo since its early inception & have always found it to be really, really good..., in fact I'd suggest it has by far been the best I've used. Not without its faults during the last 12 months or so tho, but they have always been very quick to sort it out as far as my experience is concerned. Their online support is also very, very good as well.
V.2 of the Antivirus has been recently released as a conbination with their very good firewall too; (this being the most recent update for the antivirus from V.2 to V.3).
V.2 had issues with continual prompts requiring your input, & as Ranchhand says, was a pain until it 'learned' your choices. However, I now find that V.3 is considerably much more intuitive; with the combined firewall, together they make a far better than average option. (BTW. I understand V.2 antivirus wasn't updated as a stand-alone because it wasn't compatible with 'Vista'. The new V.3 antivirus/firewall now is...

Don't quote me on this, but from memory I think Daves computertips.com ( or some similar type worthy site), did a rather lengthy study into the best free firewall/antivirus. Publishing the results earlier this year. Comodo came out as the best overall winner for an XP system, with Online Armour suggested as best on a 'Vista' system.
Take what you want from this; I only offer it as useful optional information...
Bye for now,
Mike

Sorry I missed this .... been incredibly busy recently!

Unlike my colleagues here, I haven't experienced Comodo first-hand but from what I do know if it, it's a very reputable product and offers very good protection. On the strength of reports from experienced and knowledgeable folk, I'd also be more than happy to recommend it smile.gif

compute.gif It's on my other computer now running just fine.
I like how they update it http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/release_notes.html biggest one to me that stood out was fixed just before I started using it

FIXED! Cmdagent.exe consumes 100% memory when firefox.exe is run
which is good as I use firefox.

How the other computer looks, on another note comodo is low on ram usage etc. smile.gif
