Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone ever went through the Computertraining.com course. I have been finding myself becoming more and more interested in computers as of late. I was thinking about pursuing a career in the field and I keep hearing these commercials from computertraining.com and it sounds like a pretty good deal. Did anyone ever take any of these courses and if so, were they worth it? Did the course help you get a career that you were looking for? Anything you can tell me would be of great help. I would like to be able to help people fix their Pc's no matter what problem occurs as many of you do everyday on this website and probably as careers also. I want a career that I know will always be in need. Thanks for your time.

Their website looks nice but I have a feeling that they will charge you tons of money with no guarantee for employment; I’d say that if you’re interested in computers then you can start with a basic certification like the A+, and see if you like going this way. You can find more information about the A+ certification here:

Hi,
Also try to find out if local schools or colleges run any adult education courses. It might also be that there are state/government funded courses depending on your circumstances.
I agree with Dino, don't hand over your $$$ to a training company that hasn't been recommended by someone you know.

macgyver,
I actually went there for orientation and tried to sign up. Yes, it was significantly more expensive than just taking continuing education courses from a local college or school. The thing that I liked most about the program is what is included with it: a computer, all related software (related to the program you actually take), all SUPPORT and LABS software, a workshop, lifetime career placement (includes guidance and mock interviews). In my opinion, everything you need to get you in a better job after the 6-month program so that you can prove yourself quickly. Now, I emphasize that the stuff that you pay for is YOURS. You can't take hardware and all that software from a college course, or even some online courses.
The bottom line is what are you looking for, and what are you willing to pay for it? A program like this will only be "worth it" if you believe that it holds that value for YOU.
Keep in mind, no matter what training you complete, you are entry level when starting. But after you get in the door, it's up to you to climb higher.
Dino,
Nobody can guarantee employment, unless they are a recruitment partner for a certain company. And, if that's the case, I doubt they would pay what you're worth. But, Career Placement WILL help you prepare for the job search and interview process. How much would a LIFETIME Career Placement service be worth to you?

I have completed the online course from one online site. I gain lot of technical knowledge from their training program.
