I'm at whits end here. Long story short I bought a wireless router so I could my new laptop at home (I do have a home PC but it's loaded with worms and viruses). On occasion after connecting the wireless router I'd have to reconfigure the router, get a new IP address and more only to have connectivity issues a month later.

first thought it was the home PC it was connected to but that finally took a dump so now it's connected to the laptop and now having new issues.

Got my PS3 wirelessly connected today and kept getting disconnected. Came down to check the laptop and couldn't connect to the net with it either. it was a local-only connection to the wireless router. After futzing with it I pulled out the ethernet cable in anger...plug it back to the laptop and it's fine again banghead.gif

Any ideas why I keep having different problems with different temporary solutions?

hey spectre
wish i had an answer for y'all

i had the same problem never did figure it out. ended up with a wired connection too. this router and computer are next to each other like 3 feet. one day the wireless connection continuously stopped. boot the router and it was ok for a few min. then dead. i haven't tried a new wireless adapter but suspect that's what the problem was.

is your router a linksys? there's a forum full of the same problem over at the linksys with no answers.

Why yes, it is a linksys. After reading a few of those posts I can see how you guessed that, lol.

Thanks for the help. I may just buy a different brand and if that doesn't fix it, go from there.

I know this was posted a month ago but I just found it so thought I'd post my 2 cents worth anyway. I've tried most brands available and have now owned 2 Belkins routers in 2 different places. I returned all the other brands I bought cause I kept having problems with them. The Belkin router setups I have in both houses work great without any problems. I wouldn't recommend anything but a Belkin from my own experience and no I don't get commission from them either. I don't mean this to sound like an ad but I had endless problems until I tried the Belkin. Good luck.
