I want to copy my hard drive to a USB Flash Drive.

Manufacturer said it would work, but sent me a 3.3version driver.

I have Win 98 4.10.1998

Any ideas on how I can make this work?

Thanks,

Bill

Providing very specific info about the drive/manufacturer might help...

Did you get back to them and tell them the driver didn't work?

The easiest way to do this is to create a backup of your hard drive and create an ISO out of it, then copy the ISO to your thumb. You will need a backup utility that will do this. Another thing that you can investigate is if there is a backup utility (Ghost, Acronis Trueimage, etc.) that will backup directly to your thumb drive. If you are considering running Windows 98 from your thumb drive only, I don't think that will work.

You'll have some work ahead of you to try to get 98FE to access a USB Mass Storage Device. Pretty much all manufacturers only produced drivers for 98SE. You could try the information here:

For a backup of your system drive, as ranchhand has said, if the computer can boot from CD, it would be best to use Acronis or Ghost, their boot environment can store an image straight onto a USB Mass Storage Device.

If your hard drive is a Seagate or Maxtor, you can download and use the free Seagate DiskWizard software, which provides a feature-limited version of Acronis TrueImage.
