Full Version: Multimedia Card Readers On A Dell Computer
Suggest A Fix PC Support Forums > General Computing > Hardware And Multimedia Problems
CBIT

I am having a problem with our Card reader. It will work fine for a period of time and then you will put in a media card and the PC does not recognize the Card reader.

I have unsuccessfully talked to Dell computer Tech support. We have replaced the Mother Board and the Drive. It fixed it for awhile then it started doing the same thing.

I can get it working again for awhile by shutting down and unplugging the internal reader and then plugging in back in and bringing up the PC.

Does anyone have a more permanent solution?

hi cbit
well looks like there's a problem with usb.

right click my computer, click properties
click the hardware tab
click the device manager button.
scroll to USB controllers
Uninstall all usb root hubs
reboot.

windows will reinstall on reboot.

if you have usb devices that have a yellow exclamation mark in device manager after the reboot right click on the yellow exclamation mark and then uninstall the drivers and then restart the computer. windows will reinstall them.

please let us know how y'all get along with this.

I will try that and let you know if it works or not. Thanks for your input.
