I have a strange problem. Running I.E. 6 and 7 I have a couple internal databases that require logins on different ips on our internal network for example 12.10.x.x would be one if I type the ip into the internet explorer address bar IE" http://12.10.x.x It gives me error 400 bad request. I can leave the http:// off same thing. However if I go to start run and type iexplore 12.10.x.x Boom comes right up no problem. However set a favorite and try to reaccess it does not work gives me the same error 400 bad request.

Any ideas as to why it will let me open them up with start run but not from the IE address bar. As for right now. Im using firefox as a work around but I really dont want to install it on 500 plus computers.

I did some research on error 400, and this is what came up:
http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E400.html
This is some commercial website, but they explain the error in detail and that’s why I posted their link.

Microsoft advises running a network capture to determine the exact cause of the problem.

Also, there might be a technical error in the way your computer is communicating with your web server that prevents you from getting the page that you wanted. For example, you’re using the prefix “http://,” but you mentioned that you’re trying to connect to some internal databases, which means that you may need a secure connection; so why don’t you try using the prefix “https://” instead and see what happens.

This is a shot in the dark, but you can also right-click on the Internet Explorer icon, go to Properties, Advanced, HTTP 1.1 Settings, and then uncheck Use HTTP 1.1 (no guarantees that this would work, but it’s worth a try).
