Can any one please help, installed AVg 8 free when it come out, been running ok but when I came to update today, it stated that (a bin file is missing) tride to reinstall but makes no difference, don't understand bin files so dont, know how to get it, thanks for any help.

Suggest you uninstall completely, then d/load & install CCleaner, ( a google search will bring it up for you). Once installed, run this very reliable 'cleaner' to get rid of any accompanying rubbish associated with the previous AVG 8 version.
When completed, re-boot your computer.

Once re-booted, d/load the latest version of AVG 8, & re-install. I would hope this will sort out the issue for you. You will need to update the installation once completed as well.

Advise on your progress if you like as there may be other suggestions as well. If you prefer to wait on these to confirm my suggestion, first feel free.

thanks mike7, tried that then found this,on another site, for anyone else with the same problem
(1 - Start up AVG,click Update Now.
2 - The list of updates is shown in Popup, click on the more information link.A list of updates will be shown.
3 - Click on and save all updates in a file except the last one - http://downloadfree.avg.com/update/u7iavi1616oo.bin - because this is causing the problem.
4 - Cancel the update and instead click on Tools > Update from Directory and go to the file where you saved the updates.Install these and AVG should be working properly again.)
this worked for me.
