Recently my HP dv9000 (Nvidia geforce ge 7600, centrino duo, 3Gig ram) decided to freeze up along with a distorted screen after which it no longer loads windows. More specifically, it turnes on but doesn't do anything other than stay on a black screen. I came close to getting it to work once in which it loaded system restore but once i got past the login screen it went blue screen but a screwed up screen again. Any ideas on how to fix and if the problem is the hardware and if i need to replace it?

there are a lot of nvidia video chips in hp, dell, and other notebooks that are bad. i'd say call hp and find out if you have one of the bad video chips. the problem has been acknowleged by nvidia and hp.
