I just installed windows 98 on an old computer. I connected it to my router with an ethernet cable, but I cannot connect to the Internet. Is there something that I must do in order to make a direct LAN connection work and connect to the Internet?

Need to make sure the eithernet adaptor doesn't have any errors in Device Manager.

In device manager, there is an error for the PCI Ethernet Controller. The error messages indicates that the drivers for the device are not installed (Code 28). Since this is an older pc, where can I obtain the drivers for this device? I took the computer to a reputable computer repair shop to have it reconditioned and Windows 98 installed on it. Should not the repair shop installed the drivers for this device?

of it was working before the drivers should have been installed. any other yellow exclamation marks in device manager?

we'd need the maker and model of the lan card to point y'all to the drivers.
