Hi folks
I bought a new pc around 4 weeks ago. Quad core amd, windows vista,3gb ram thumb up.gif
now i am hitting some problems. while playing cnc 3 the computer crashed, blue screen of death and rebooted. all too fast to read the error message.
I assumed it was the game so went to the EA tech support site and checked there.I followed thier advice and updated my video card drivers. ( graphics card?)
I have avast running, plus i have done a scan with housecall, spybot, malwarebytes. al of them show the pc is clean. but i still have problems with the pc rebooting.

There is no real pattern to it. the game will quit and the pc reboots. the game will quit to the desktop with no reboot. the internet explorer will close sometimes with the error message that the search indexer has stopped working or the explorer has stopped working.
the game worked for about two weeks with no issues so i am guessing that its something else, considering that there are issues when the game is not running too.
this is my first vista pc so i am lost as to what to do. (not that i knew much about xp ethier laugh.gif )
Vista did come up with a problem related to an error in the active x controls,it advised an unistall and reinstall so i did. still no different.
its hard to predict what will happen, i can go for two days with no crashes/errors and then have five in an hour.

suggestions would be great

i forgot to add, my daugther recently installed something called imikimi which allows her to "bling" her photos for that hatefull site known as bebo. not sure if this is important but it happened the same time the problems started. ( i think)

That could be an issue, I’d say try a system restore first to an earlier date when everything was fine, and if that doesn’t work, then uninstall this program and see if it helps.

hi dino, sorry for the delay in replying. the pc went downhill fast!!!
I started having major problems, everything was running very slowly. I would click on the internet explorer and it took 20 mins to open. i ran scans etc but they would be even slower.

i got an error message connected to nero 8 and i ended up uninstalling it. my pc is now back to full speed and seems ok. i have not played cnc 3 yet but will update this thread when i have.

anyone know a good replacement for nero?

thanks for the help, will be back soon to update.

CDBurnerxp..incredible burner for cd/dvd. Freeeware, malware free. my personal rating...*10 Stars*

i had the same problem with nero 8 it tries to do too much and has all sorts of stuff running in the background. uninstalled nero then reinstalled without nero scout and nero backup and it works ok but i think cdburnerxp is better.

for multimedia player try VideoLAN - VLC media player another freeware program. Nonags rated 6 rubber duckies ( i rate vlc player at 10 stars).
