Full Version: Zlob Dnschanger Problem

Hi
I have few problems that I think are linked.
I've had various nuisance redirections when using IE. Also unable to update latest definition files on my Adaware and AVG inernet Security so can't effectively cleanup and maintain the computer. I have managed to update and run Spybot, which shows the presence of zlob.dnschanger. I use the remove feature - which says successful, but it's actually still there.
Would really appreciate some help.

Hi Charlie and welcome to SAF. I need to see some logs please. Download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) from here to your Desktop. Close all open applications and windows, doubleclick on dss.exe to run it and follow the prompts.

When the scan is complete, a text file will open. Copy and paste the contents of this log (Main.txt) in your next reply. Also post the contents of Extra.txt (it should be minimised on your taskbar but if not, it can be found in the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder). You may find that the maximum characters allowed is exceeded when you post. If so, halve the logs and make several posts.

QUOTE(AnnMarie @ Jul 29 2008, 04:52 PM) *

Hi

Is this the extra txt that you wanted ?

Charlie

Extra logfile - please post this as an attachment with your post.

Hi Charlie, yes that's fine. Please download FixWareout from here

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin, just follow the prompts. If your firewall sends an alert, please don't let your firewall block it, allow it (this tool will download an additional file from the internet).

Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load, this is normal.

Once your desktop loads, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt along with a new HijackThis log.

NB: If you have problems connecting the Internet after you have rebooted, go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Rightclick on your default connection (usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up) and leftclick on Properties. Doubleclick on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically or enter the addy's required by your ISP (they should be posted on their site or give them a call) . Click OK twice, and restart the computer.

Hmmm, something is preventing that changes from being saved. Boot into Safe Mode (restart your computer and tap F8 continuously as it restarts).

Run Hijack This again. Check the below entries and click on Fix Checked.

Reboot and post a new Hijack This log please. You also have software installed that will attempt to redirect IE if a website is not found, URL Assistant. This software is a real nuisance and you may wish to uninstall it from Add/remove Programs in Control Panel.
