check hard drive free space. virtual memory is space on the hard drive where the 1's and 0's go when ram is needed but the memory space needs to be maintained by the software.

Can you please tell me how to do this
and how I can correct it?

Thanks

hi cindy
there's several things to do.

to check disk free space open my computer, right click c: drive, click properties. let us know the used space, free space and capacity. sometimes windows lies about needing more space and there's a fix for that.

empty the recycle bin.
clear the browser cache.
empty the temp folder
remove unnecessary email.

we'll need to know what's your windows version, vista, windows xp or......
what's your browser
what's your email

well y'all have plenty of disk space to use so try this.

Right-click My Computer and choose Properties. Click the Advanced tab. Click the Settings button in the Performance panel. Click the Advanced tab in the Performance dialog. Click the Change button in the Virtual memory panel. Look for the System managed size option, select it if it isn't already selected, and then click OK, OK, OK. That should end the warnings.

one other thing is to run chkdsk

Start button, Run, type:
cmd
click ok
in command prompt type
chkdsk c: /f
press enter

chkdsk will ask a bunch of stuff and ask to run chkdsk at the next boot. type, y press enter and reboot. let chkdsk run. if there's any errors it'll say it's made repairs. a common problem is misreported free space.

Cindy,

A suggestion;
Edit your # 5 post and remove the email address. Having such on an open forum is a big invite to all sorts of spam and junk email. There are "bots" that cruise forums looking for things like this. If the "EDIT" function isn't there (expired or such), PM a Moderator and ask that it be removed. Again, just a suggestion.

try increasing the paging file size in the same place where y'all set windows to manage the paging file. like 1500 MB. if that doesn't work maybe a progam has a memory leak. watch memory usage in windows task manager, ctrl+alt+del keys, in processes and performance.

what programs are running when this happens?
Surfer
i forgot to add to click the set button when y'all change the page file size.

for the memory to work it'll need to be the same type, ddr, ddr2, ddr3 etc. CPUz will tell you what type. it's free.

press ctrl+alt+del keys simultaneously will open the windows taks manager. under the Performance tab will be 4 panes. on the left will be CPU Usage and PF (page file) usage. on the right will be CPU Usage History. watch the PF usage graph.

below on the right watch:

Hello Cindy,

Thank you for using our online email support. If you have already tried
the steps I have provided you, then you must really upgrade your Memory.
Your computer has 512MB of RAM and expandable to 2GB of RAM. Your
Motherboard has two RAM slots, so to attain the 2GB RAM you need 1 GB
RAM for each RAM slot.

Please reply to this message if you require further assistance with this
issue. If your reply is received while I am out of the office, to
ensure a speedy resolution, your issue will be handled by one of my
colleagues.

Sincerely,

it's sounding like a hardware problem related to temperature. please when you can, download, unzip and run RealTemp.exe. no installation just double click the .exe file from the folder where it's unzipped. let us know the temps it reports.

Real Temp Download link
this should start the download. for simplicity d/l to the desktop, unzip and run from there.

no jas it's where it needs to be. it's sunday and been a bit busy. you can uninstall PrismXL from add remove programs but i doubt it'll make a difference.

uninstall these 2 from add/remove programs
Microsoft IntelliType Pro
keyboard software and your keyboard will still work but without as many "features" and save a pretty large amount of ram and cpu cycles.

GoneGamblingClient.exe

uncheck this in msconfig
jusched.exe
java updater. no need to run all the time.

this isn't right
