Hi, not sure where to post this but since I have ME as my OS I thought would post here.
I have a desktop and a couple of days back when I switched on my machine it went into Safe Mode, I tried restarting and using normal mode but once I select normal mode it doesnt go any further, just see the cursor blinking on a blank screen. I can only go into Safe mode.
I used the troubleshooter in safe mode and I tried doin a system restore, but when I clicked it a NAV message popped up saying the Helctr.exe file was corrupted in the
C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\BINARIES folder
I tried renaming the file but that didnt work. The helctr.exe file is also in
C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS
C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\INSTALL
Not sure what to do can someone pls help Thanks

Hi Dino,
appreciate your response but the link you provided refers to the Helpctr.exe file not found. I dont have that issue. I have the file, but the problem is my machine when turned on goes to Safe Mode, and when i try to use the system restore from the troubleshooting tool I get a message saying the Helpctr.exe file is corrupted, it probably contains a virus, So how can i fix it.
Thanks

You can either delete it, follow the instructions of Method 1, or you can do a repair or a clean installs of Windows as per Method 2; in either case make sure that you have a full backup of your important files before you do anything.

You mentioned in your first post that you could get the machine to boot into Safe Mode; so why don’t you do that and get the data that you need?
