Did a scan this morn with my avast, came up clean (?), but
up popped a list of 11 files that could not be scanned, cannot
copy to here, but all seemed to be "warning" category,
"directx" type files...never had this warningg before?!
Any suggestions as what to do about this??

These are locked files that for some reason avast! is unable to access and scan; I get that all the time when I scan my entire machine especially with Ad-Aware (the spyware removal program from Lavasoft) files. I’m not sure why this is happening but it could be a bug in avast!; about two weeks ago there was another problem with avast! detecting a legitimate file from SpywareBlaster as a virus, but the problem was solved later on when they released an update. I’d say that you shouldn’t worry yourself if these files look familiar, but if you have any doubts you can maximize this dialogue box that shows at the end of the scan process, take a screenshot, and then post it here so we can take a look at it. Another place where you can go for help is their support forums, and that you can find here:

These files look like flash movies that were downloaded to your machine while you were browsing the Internet; you can go to their exact location and scan them, but I don’t think that they pose any danger to your machine but you can scan them for your peace of mind. Also, these files are temporary internet files, meaning that you can safely delete them without any problems to your computer.
