Help! Whenever I start control panel it comes up ' windows explorer has stopped responding ' 'windows explorer is restarting' Yesterday I tried to install a device driver for a logitech extreme 3d pro joystick ment for win xp. and the laptop shut down. It said something like this: For safety reasons your system will shut down. and something about a kernal memory dump thing.

I would say the driver caused a conflict with Vista, something not uncommon. Try using your System Restore to return to the point before you installed it.

Go to Start
Select All Programs
Select Accessories
Select System Tools
Select System Restore
Click the Next button
Select the option titled: Choose a different restore point
Click the Next button
Select a date and time that you would like to restore your computer to.
Click the Next button to begin the restoration process.
In the confirmation message, select Yes.
Once the System Restore process completes, your system will automatically restart.
