today i disassembled my old computer for a thorough cleaning and found several bulging capacitors so i figured there was no point in trying to continue. it was like 6 years old. that old computer was a buddy in bad times and the an excellent learning tool in good times.

one hard drive and 1 gig memory went in my daughters computer and 1 hard drive went in my new computer. the video card cooler fan is shot and it won't fit the agp slot in my daughters computer so i'll replace the fan and give it to somebody.

the new one is incredible. i had no idea how good good is.

Yes, I've seen your previous setup.... and this one is a super improvement!

Mine is still pretty much the same as this older photo, except I now have a Laser printer on the upper right shelf. I changed my power supply a couple days ago, as I finally turned off the system recently when I was out of town for a couple of weeks, and the cold, gelled lube in the 5 hard drive bearings caused the startup to pull more than the 450 watt supply could overcome to start it up. I unplugged the removable drive and it started OK, then plugged it back in. It now has a 550 watt in it.

Uh-oh...we're doing the desk thing again. Well, I guess it's been a while.



I'm gonna have to wait. I ordered the replacement mobo for the HP that blew up, along with a video card and 700watt psu. That one's an dual core AMD 4200 with 2gb of PC-800 of whatever I will put in there and an EVGA 8800GTS 640Mb. Somebody came in with a system and thought their board was blown, ordered a new mobo, chip, etc only for me to discover their power button in the case was bad. They gave their old dual core Intel and board to me. I have to install a new hdd, power supply and video card (same as above, but 512Mb version) and that one's done. Then I refurbished a 3.0Gb Intel system, 3Gb PC-3200, NVidia 7950GT which I'm using at the shop. I've still got my trusty old Barton 2800 system with the 7600GS sitting at home, soon to be handed off to the 8 year old.

6 years? Mine's older than that Wes. Remember when you were all congratulating me because it was my first computer that was "mine"? Well it is still kicking. I don't want it to break. It's my baby!

And I'm not showing you my desk setup because it's in my bedroom. And y'all don't need to see my bedroom so there.
