Does anyone have experience with MS Windows Live OneCare? What are your thoughts about the program?
Thanks,

I only used it once and I think it may have messed up my registry. If you use it, I would recommend that you do not let it make any changes to your registry. I would guess the virus and spyware scanner should be safe but I would keep an eye on that service as much as possible, i.e., make it prompt you before any changes are applied if you have that option.
I think if you use a good basic anti-virus, good basic anti-spyware program like windows defender, and a good basic firewall, that's about all you need if you use some common sense and watch where you surf and what emails you open.
I would also recommend to defagment your hard drive every now and then and don't install any more software programs than you actually need and/or will be using. I also think it' a good idea to keep your preview pane closed in your email program which I learned from Hked as he has recommend that before.
I like to play around with freeware and stuff myself but I think if you want a reliable work computer you need to set it up for that, and only install the programs you need for work. If you want a computer to just install things to try and play around with you really should do that on another computer dedicated for that purpose, or do it in a virtual machine like Microsoft's free virtual machine program.
