I am trying to upgrade my current processor which is a AMD athlon 750 200 FSB currently running on a KADOKA JABIL AMD R-4 installed in a gateway PC.
To a AMD athlon 1400 200 FSB.
Does anyone know if this is possibly or can you tell me if this old motherboard can support an upgrade in processors?
Or do you have a better suggestion to upgrading the cpu also.
I contacted AMD the support person says the 750 and 1400 have the same specs. accept for the TFD.
CAN YOU HELP?

This is an old, DOS based mainboard. First, you will be fortunate to find a processor to upgrade with, considering that they have not been manufactured in several years. IF you have an upgraded processor in your possession already, remove the existing one and see if your new one fits the mounting. If the processor will fit the socket, it will work. Other than that, there is no information available.
The bus runs only at 200MHz. To say this is slow is an understatement. If you want to only use the computer for internet, e-mail and word processing, why upgrade? The memory used is SDRAM, which is not manufactured any more.

if this is your motherboard then the 1400 athlon won't work.
