My birthday is a week away and I have been interested in getting a camcorder so that I can record movies. I dont know what type to get. I want to be able to take the videos and put them on the computer. Would this be possible? Which type of camcorder should I get that would allow me to do that.

You want a digital camcorder, preferably with a hard drive instead of using cassettes. Be sure to get a DV (Digital Video) camcorder. Do not get an analog camcorder - there aren't many anymore, but they are still around and usually for less money. You will find it a lot more complicated transferring the video into your computer. Also, get one that has a real good low-light rating; a lot of cheaper camcorders do very poorly when the light gets to indoor quality. Some of the super-nicest shots I took of my family were when we were on vacation in low-light settings. I have some really super ones at Epcott in Disney World when we ate at the Morocco plaza at night. Plus you can then get fireworks at night, etc. such as the fireworks display over Cinderalla's castle, the Epcott laser show at night, etc.
I am not sure if they have it, but if they make them now that will take a flash drive in addition, that would even be better.
