Hi,
I have a major issue with my SONY Vaio PCV-RS Hard drive recovery.
After burning 2 disks from the SONY recovery wizard internal software, I started the procedure to format my computer but at the moment of the C drive recovery process (after only the 2% of progress), I got a “Stream Reading error” message that brought me to start all over again. The problem is that all the options I choose from the Recovery Wizard end up with the same error. I set up the default setting from the bios but… nothing! Someone told me to replace the HD but I got the same result. Now I am stuck and I do not know what to do. Can somebody help me? I would greatly appreciate otherwise I need to trash the pc and it would be really bad…

Thanks,
Alex

First, is your VAIO still under warranty? If so, that is the place to start. Next, evidently this is a pretty common problem with Sony laptops. Unfortunately, the only thing I could find is here, scroll down to the fourth comment:

Hi,
Thank you for the suggestions and sorry for the double post, I am new on forums.

Unfortunatley the machine is not under warranty so I will check out the web site and find out the solution.

Tx,
Alex
