First off, I'm a total n00b about overclocking

I have a core 2 duo E6300

I was wondering if this could be overclocked? and if it can, to how much?

Will it cause any problems if it is overclocked?

Do i need to change any hardware if i overclock it? (PSU, fans, etc?)

and lastly, how do i overclock tongue.gif

Thanks in advance ^_^

What is the make and model number of your mobo?

OC'ing has the potential of destroying the pc.....If you have a store bought pc like a Dell, you won't be able to OC due to BIOS limitaions.

It's not a store bought PC

and my mobo is an Intel D946GZIS

With today's processor speeds, overclocking doesn't gain that much performance considering the possible overheating and damaging issues that can result from it. You may take a look Overclockers AU for more info.

I went to that site jim ...

It says my processor is excellent for overclocking o_O

There you go! They should have some good tips on how to do it. smile.gif

But is my mobo good enough?

Coz i read you need a good mobo for good overclocking, but anyways i don't want to go more than 2.4GHz, I guess that's satisfactory for me smile.gif

That board supports processors up to 3.60 ghz., so I would think it would be no problem. I'm not into overclocking, so I'm no expert.

that mother board has no way to change cpu clock speed and multipliers so it's probably not possible.

here's one e6300 review using a ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
