Hello,

First of all you need to know the specifications of your system so download from this link and that will tell you.

Is the PC you mentioned in your post in the same house as your Laptop you want to connect to the interent? If it is, then the Laptop needs a wireless modem, browse the link above and it will tell you. Then you need a wireless router to connect both your computers to the same internet service provider that you have an account with through you landline telephone line.

I would suggest you get a knowledged friend to help you set this up along with a sharing facility between both computers assuming they are both at your home.

I would not suggest you connect to hotspots in your area as you need your own wireless network with a password to stop others from accessing it.

Failing finding a good friend to help, go to an IT shop and they will advise you how to set the above up to your own satisfaction.

Congratulations on your new laptop! Literally every lap sold today comes with wireless internet installed and ready to go. That is one of the major reasons (and advertised selling points!) why folks purchase laps - they have immediate access to internet whereever they take it. It should connect as soon as you boot up. My suggestion is to contact the manufacturer/retail store where you purchased it and complain. Take it there and let them explain what you need to know, and do it soon before the temporary store return limit is passed.

If you have an active account in good standing with your ISP (Internet Service Provider - ie: "the internet company") you definitely should not be getting any wierd messages.

So - first to the retail store your dad purchased from, next call the help number of your ISP and tell them the problem. This should definitely not be happening.
