Full Version: Url In Ie6 Favorites

About 3 weeks ago, when I started my computer one morning, I found that the favorites on my favorites toolbar had had ".url" added to them, and all the icons had changed. I really don't like this and want tio change it back to the way it was with wording of my choice without the URL.

Right-clicking does not give you an icon change option and if you rename the favorite by dropping ".url," it won't work as it did previously.

I am the only user of this computer, running XP Pro, with no other problems or unusual circumstances.

What happened and what can I do to get it back to the way it was without using a restore point.

Also: "upgrading" to Firefox is not an asnwer. I use Firefox in addition to IE, but need to use IE for certain browsing functions.

Thank for any help.

IPB Image georgek,

Have you downloaded, installed or run a new OS cleaning program? perhaps a registry cleaner? some of the more aggressive cleaners will change settings you treasure and I would not recommend them at all.

Please post back and let us know more detail.
