New at all this with computers but got to learn some how. Just upgrade my computer with a new video card, everything seem fine untill i went to hook it up and the cord from the moniter does'nt match the new video card not sure what to do now do they have adapters that i can use or do i have to get a new moniter. I got a dell 8400 about 3 years old put a XFX geforce 8600 in it . Now the old card did have one plug -in that match the new one but for my luck i got the cord that match the other plug in . Not sure if the plug is for like a LCD or what any help would be appricated.

Welcome to SAF, bodine51!

There are two connectors in common use for computers these days. It sounds like the board you bought probably has a DVI (digital) connector instead of the older VGI (video graphics interface). Some have one of each on them, like in this image.....

And an adapter is available for making the conversion.

Is THISyour video card? If so, you have a DVI, HDMI (high definition, Blue Ray), and standard Composit inputs. You are running an older CRT monitor with a standard VGA cable input. As Jim suggested, get a VGA to DVI adapter and you are in business. If you ever get an LCD display, use the DVI - tremendous difference in quality of picture.
