I have a few questions regarding wireless connection, or lack thereof. I have a D-link router (WBR-2310 rangebooster-g, i think) and a couple computers connected to it. Currently, my mom's pc is connected to the modem and router and the internet works fine on her computer. My brother and i both have macbooks, and we have no problem with the internet. My stepdad, however, has a windows pc running vista and can't connect. His computer doesn't have a wireless card, but he bought a linksys compact wireless-G usb adapter. My laptop can connect to the internet just fine from the exact same place as his computer, but we cannot for the life of us get it to connect. i've tried everything i can think of and it wont' work. my family's network shows up with one bar for signal strength and it says it's too low a signal, but once again, my laptop works fine.
second, i have a windows pc also, and it won't connect either. about a year ago i installed a wireless card in it and it worked fine, but then i went off to college and now it won't work. my computer isnt' even recognizing the card. i don't know if i need a new driver for it or what, but i don't remember what kind it is and i definitely don't still have the box for it. it won't even show me the possibilty of wireless down in the right corner of the screen, by the time and everything. my parents thought maybe it was my stepdad's adapter that didn't work, so i put it in my computer. i was connected to the network briefly, but now it won't work anymore. now at least it shows the computer with wireless and a red x in the corner, but it still won't connect. the signal strength is fine- i'm sitting right in front of it on my lappy typing this- so i dont' know what the hell is wrong.
i made sure that my network isn't password protected or anything that would prevent me from joining. also, i turned the firewall off.
any help you could offer would be totally amazing!!!! thanks!
