I'm not sure on what specifics I should give about my system..

..but I have my os on a IDE hdd, and I was hoping to use my SATA for storage.

..the only problem with that is that my pc tries do load the SATA on boot.

I am using a .
(..I'm not a big fan of Dell.. ..for reasons like this..)

Motherboard: Dell Dimension 5600

OS: XP sp2

SATA: WDC WD3200JD-22KLBO

Any pointers would help...

What options do you see in the BIOS->Bootup Sequence list?
kraker666
there is a boot sequence..
..but that only lets you choose between hard drive and cd rom.

..there is nothing about what drive you want it to boot from..

Make sure the IDE drive is jumpered to Master and or that your SATA drive is plugged into the second SATA port.
kraker666
I've done both..

...but when I set the SATA to secondary..

..windows does not recognize it..

also, I have two IDEs in there,

one master, and one slave..

and it wouldn't help to unhook the slave..

...would it?

*tries that*

Are there special jumper settings for the SATA that I don't know about?

I'm pretty sure jumpoers are only for size restrictins aren't they?
