The boat is going in the water for the first time Memorial Day weekend. It's taken most of 2 years, but she's ready. We're going to have a launching party (yet another excuse to eat and drink ourselves into a coma) for it.

I hereby christen this fine vessel "Out Of Pocket". May she and all who sail with her enjoy calm waters, fair winds and always...safe passage home.

If I could afford the gas, I'd come up and enjoy a trip out on her. Speaking of gas, that should drink it up rather well. Have to keep the trips close to the dock. smile.gif

Gas shouldn't be too bad. 4cyl., 3.0liter 130hp with a 35 gallon tank. I'm not going to be blasting all over Lake Ontario, just in a small triangle between three Points-Salubrious, Pillar (right across) and Penninsula (next to). Maybe head over to Sacketts Harbor now and again.

Happy boating John, she looks great. I like the name you picked out for her.

Congratulations and well done for all the hard work you have put into her.

Enjoy your day out

We took it out Saturday after spending six more hours trying to get all the little details finished for the initial run, and everything seemed in order. The boat performed beautifully. Sunday was the day to take the family out. It was a little choppy, but not bad and the boat ran like a top all day.....to a point. Later in the afternoon we went back out to meet up with a friend on his boat to cruise around. I'm REALLY, REALLY glad he was with us because suddenly everything went wrong and he towed us back to the marina. There seems to be a fuel delivery problem or something. The tank was cleaned, we installed all new fuel lines/hoses, the carb has a fresh rebuild, the gas is fresh, the filters are new as is the fuel separator, etc. When the boat was in neutral it had no problem. The second it went into gear and under load it bogged to the point of stalling. I just bought new filters and fuel pump today, and I'll pull a couple of plugs to see how they look, so we'll see what happens *shrug*. Oh well, at least it saw water, and while it ran it ran well, so it wasn't a total loss.

"Out Of Pocket" soon to be renamed "Bottomless Pit."

Hope you get the kinks out.

Well, things went from bad to worse. scared.gif We discovered it needs a new shift cable and bellow..that's where the water was coming from. sad.gif Not a real biggie...have the pros do this one because there are too many things which can go horribly wrong for the unwashed. Then....oh, surprise....I just had to buy a new outdrive because mine got water in it and it destroyed itself. pull hair.gif Mercruiser wanted $3400.00 for theirs. Sterndrive.com wanted $1305.00 for theirs with shipping and COD. They are now installing the new drive/shift cable/bellow/whatever else there may be to drain the financial lifeblood from my system. banghead.gif But the boat will be in the water again this week.

Good luck dude!

Well, it's all fixed. New outdrive, replaced a check valve. The boat runs like a scared cat. If anyone is interested in going for a cruise on Lake Ontario, come on up.

Ummm...I did tear the horn off after I tapped a dock support yesterday. Oops.
