Full Version: Does Comodo And Avira Run In Vista?

I don't have Vista, but I was wondering if anyone uses (free) Comodo Firewall Pro and Avira Antivirus in Vista? Do they load and run okay? In fact, if anyone uses Zone Alarm or Grisoft in Vista, please post your experience with them.

I have several friends that have purchased retail computers running Vista, and I don't want to remove Norton off of them if any of the (better) free programs won't load or run on Vista.

Thanks all!

I use Grisoft's AVG Free Antivirus software (free.grisoft.com) and am more than happy with it.

It has often caught viruses leaving me happy to say that although there have been several attacks, I have never been infected.

Grisoft were very quick on the mark of making their software vista compatible with it releasing a version for beta testers of Vista RC1 long before vista was available for the public so they have their experience.

Also, having used norton in the past, I find AVG doesn't slow down my pc anything like as much.

Thanks. I think I will kick together a test machine from extra parts I have, load Vista on it and start experimenting.

They all run in Vista. I use AntiVir and ZA.

Thanks, that is nice to know. Now I can nuke Norton AV off my client's computers and install Avira and Comodo. I just "walked" my sister-in-law through doing that, and she is very happy with how much faster her computer is running now, plus no more yearly payments to Norton!
