Hello all.

I have just purchased a 500gig NAS hard drive but am having problems setting it up.

I have formatted the hard drive through dics management and the hard drive works through the USB and allows me to transfer files and view its capacities.

But when i access the NAS through the ethernet i cannot create folders in the SMB server.

The first screen to create it

When i try to create them i get this error.

I have also noticed in the home page/status page that the hard drive info down the bottom shows nothing in the free size line and none in the total size line and i am unsure if this is related but i can view the free size and total size with USB

I am far from an expert on any on this and i am very new and i was just hoping to set this up as a network storage device for my 2 pc's to share for backups and music and video streaming.

Sorry for the poor picture qualities.

Thanks in advance and i know you good people will get me through my problems again thumb up.gif

Never mind i sorted it out.

The unit needed to be formatted on the disc utility page also.

Simple but tricky
