Can anybody tell me how to uninstall an unregistered version of windows xp? The 30 day registration period has already expired so I cannot log in. Any suggestions please. Thanks

Boot with any bootable media (floppy or CD) which has a FORMAT command on it and format the drive containing the bogus XP.

If you have your own retail XP CD, just boot with that and either remove any partitions and create new ones, or again, simply format the XP drive.

If you know the make of the hard disk you can download the disk manufacturers tools and wipe the disk that way too.

If the hal for Vista has been damaged a Vista repair or recover install will most likely have to be performed.

Do you have recovery software for the Vista install?
