Somehow I've managed to associate all .dat files with notepad and now i cant get into my system icon in control panel

Full Version: All Dat Files Now Open With Notepad
open windows explorer, go to tools, the folder options, then file types. you need to find the program associated with that file (in your case notepad with dat) and delete the file association.
I would then close everything and re-boot and then find a .dat file, hold down the "shift" button and right-click the file ......should do it.
