I am building a new system. The m/b is an Intel DX38BT. This motherboard[and most of the newer ones] doesn't have an fdd connector built into it. I want to build a RAID0 using the F6 option, but without the floppy drive, I can't do it.
There are methods[slipstreaming]out there to do this, but my attempts with the information available were flawed, I just couldn't get it to work. I wasted 4 cds in the aftermath of attempting this customisation.
I could perhaps purchase a usb floppy drive, but it may or may not be compatible with XP[in its original form].
I found this 'nLite'
http://nlite.en.softonic.com/
It makes slipstreaming somewhat simple. Wonderful stuff.
You can create a custom cd/dvd with SP2 if needed and all of the MS updates plus other bits & pieces if you want. A very user-friendly piece of ware...and it's free... a bargain!
Major Kudos to the guy who wrote and designed this.
Have a go if needed or if you want to create a custom install cd.
